Why did Warzone 1 feel less hollow?

I watched some of my old Warzone 1 gameplay recently. The biggest thing I noticed is how much more premium Warzone 1 felt. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but you felt immersed in Verdansk. In the new game, it just feels so “hollow”. Like there’s no depth to the game, you kinda feel like you’re just playing on a graphic shell of a world. It’s kind of hard to explain.

I’m thinking it may be warzone 1 had more saturation and much better sound design when it came to gunfire and ambient noise like running through bushes, birds chirping, buildings creaking, etc.

Can anyone shed light on this? I’m not sure if I’m explaining it the best.
