Attending first Bruins game today! Questions about the commute from CT

Hello! I am going to my first Bruins game today and am curious about the best way to get there. We are coming in from Hartford CT.

Right now, I was thinking of buying a parking lot close to the arena, but I have heard a couple people say that there is a lot of traffic in the downtown, especially getting out, and that it would save a lot of time and money to just take the orange line on the T into TD Garden directly. Does anyone have any opinions on what would be the optimal way to get in and out as easily as possible today? Especially regarding where to take the Orange line (or when to drive in or out to avoid traffic), and what times to target.
