Something I found on my walk to work

I'm currently doing some embroidery that I plan to back with paper and bind a book with. Does anybody have any experience with putting more 3d embroidery in a book press without crushing it? I'm thinking I might pad arround it with scrunched fabric, towels or cutting some grey board to fit around?
