Hello, my mom got diagnosed with stage 4 oc at the age of 63 back in March with a CA 125 being 409 and secondary metastasis being a distant lymph node and I was reeling myself. I looked things up constantly, thought of every scenario, and just broke down at random times. As her primary caregiver, I found being close to her and being at all her appointments comforting. Knowing more information about her case as well as the plan to attack this horrible thing gave me a sense of peace. My mom finished her final chemo on October 31st and we are hoping this will be the last for a while. I suggest getting genetic testing done as well as testing the tumor makeup. My mom ended up not having the brca gene but her tumor ended up having a genetic makeup that qualified her for Lynparza which is a targeted therapy drug to prolong remission. Her doctor seemed to be very hopeful which was encouraging to see. She just started on it 3 days ago and so far so good. Stay strong. I'm praying for your mother and family.

I understand how you feel, my girlfriend has stage 3 ovarian cancer too. She was officially diagnosed at 19 yrs old, we're now 21 and 22 yrs old. I can honestly say that the main thing that pushes us along is our humor. Our humor is very dark and I always mess with her and she jokes around with it too. Our friends always joke around with her cancer. The worst thing to do is look at the life expectancy and percentages online. Do not look things up on the internet like that. Only listen to her doctors that are close to her case. And with that, also know that there's always hope. Don't look at the glass half empty, but half full. Make her feel like she's still part of society. My girlfriend keeps telling me that she feels like she's wasting her life away when all the people our age are living life at their prime. I'm sure your mom feels a similar way, even if she's twice the age of us. Make her feel like she can still live life now. She's alive now. And that's what's important.
