Advice - solo girl backpacking Sumatra

Hey, I travelled solo through Sumatra for a month ish a few years back! It was an amazing experience but I met very few other people. Lots of tourists are on Pulau weh/ Sabang because it’s so big for scuba diving. I went to samosir/ Tuk tuk island and berastagi as well. I saw an orangutan in ketembe! I flew in to Banda from Malaysia and flew out to Sri Lanka from Medan. The infrastructure is pretty poor just FYI, and I did find being in Banda pretty stressful

Yeah I stayed in Banda initially and it would be better to just go to pulau web directly and leave from there- wearing pants and long sleeves and I’ve never been hollered at so much in my life 😅 It’s a totally different experience than Sri Lanka, not the easiest travelling but really rewarding! People were constantly asking to take photos of me, or photos of me with their children, or a photo of me holding their baby (I’m not even blonde!) The busses were pretty bad and a lot of the accommodation was really basic but it was still a really cool experience

I would love to go straight there but from my research you have to fly into banda to get there I think? Yeah would be so authentic!!
