Starter has a crusty layer

your starter is too hot! i suggest leaving it in a place not in direct heat (on top of dresser, in corner of room, in cupboard that isn’t above the oven). also heat rises! my starters rise the most when i put them up high

Oh thank you! Before I was told it might be too cold so I got a seedling mat for it 🤦🏼‍♀️ I will take it off of there now
