Review 9 of 30 reviews: Lattafa Asad

Sorry for the break, I’ve been very busy

So let me just start by saying I’ve never been a fan of Savage Elixir, I love the EDT, EDP and Parfum but Elixir smelled way too barbershop for my taste and not something I want to smell like

Asad is an unmistakeable clone of Dior Sauvage Elixir, it’s got that same barbershop lavender with earthy liquorice root which makes it smell very mature, way too mature for my taste. I mean I like to smell like vanilla and tobacco and stuff.

Asad has an audience and I can see how many people might comment that they love Asad and Sauvage Elixir, but it’s not for me.

Now keeping taste aside Asad is a damn good copy of Sauvage Elixir, it smells 80% similar at 1/10th the price. Elixir is obviously more smooth and natural and well balanced. I can see how some people might complain if you are wearing Asad around them about Asad being a bit too “Strong” and I’ve seen when the general population says “strong” they don’t have a problem with the strength of the perfume but rather the smoothness.

Here’s a fun story: We have a young gardener who helps my mom with our house garden and he knows about the perfume decants I do and he asked to smell all of them because he has a gf and he liked Asad the most so I gave him a 10ml decant but I did repeatedly ask him “Are you sure?” while pointing at Khamrah and 9pm and he still chose Asad.

I do not recommend Asad or Sauvage Elixir to anyone but they have a market for people who like the barbershop fragrance category like old spice and stuff and want to smell mature and stuff I guess.

I would say if you are in a very professional setting go for the original as that is way smoother and non offensive but Asad is a great alternative for less formal settings.

  • My rating: 4/10
