From a dog attack to endless delays and whole lotta madness

In late October, I was out for a morning walk when I saw a seemingly harmless dog standing on the footpath. Normally, I avoid walking close to dogs because I’m terrified of them, but I’d just turned 18 and decided to face my fear. I thought, “This scaredy-cat thing ends today.” So, I walked past it.

Big mistake. In a split second, the dog lunged at me like it was pulling a wrestling move, pinning me to my chest. Instinctively, I punched its nose, and I heard the clasp of my watch opening. The next moment, the dog jumped off and ran away. I was too shaken to realize my watch was gone. After calming down for a few minutes, I noticed it wasn’t on my wrist. I searched everywhere but had no luck.

So there I was, 7 kilometers from home, bruised, with a half-torn shirt, and no watch. Fortunately, I wasn’t bitten—just scratched by the watch bracelet. I got a precautionary injection and was physically fine, but I couldn’t go on walks for two weeks. Every time I saw a dog, my breathing would stop.

Adding to the frustration, I had already ordered a replacement watch before this incident, but after delaying the delivery for three days, the company told me it was lost in transit. Though I got my refund, the whole situation left me shaken.

With a wedding coming up, I tried finding a watch under ₹1000, but nothing felt right. I loved my first watch—a 38mm Sonata with a day-date function and an integrated bracelet. It wasn’t fancy, but it was mine, bought from my savings, and I wore it every day.

In December, I finally had enough money to buy a new watch after my aunt gifted me ₹1500. I’d saved ₹1000 already, so I began my search again. My dream Casio Tank was an option, but I felt it wasn’t right for me anymore. Eventually, I found the one. I have this natural instinct that tells me when something is right, and this watch just clicked.

I ordered it using my friend’s Prime account, expecting next-day delivery. Of course, it didn’t arrive. Amazon promised it the next day. Still no luck. The endless delays were maddening.

Then, while visiting my hometown for New Year’s, I found the same watch on Ajio with a great deal using discounts and points. But when I placed the order, my points vanished. After canceling, logging out, and retrying, the watch went out of stock. I stuck around and finally managed to order it again.

This time, everything went smoothly, and the watch arrived two days ahead of schedule.

And now, here I am, finally with my watch.

(Surely forgetting some more stuff but who cares)
