V: The original miniseries
Oh boy.
I had watched V: the TV series in 2009 but learned it was actually a 'retelling' of a tv film from the 80s. Just watched that one.
With the 2009 tv show, I remember there being slight allegory themes but they were heavily subdued. I was also younger then, really in my bubble. That could have been part of it too.
So, with the 1980s miniseries, If you look past the dated special effects (mainly the spaceships flying) , there's fantastic writing, acting, and storytelling in general.
It is sci-fi but there are clear allegories to shameful events of the past, and well, very recent events.
Anyway, if you're up for an entertaining film with a message, give V: The original miniseries a watch. It's cheapest on VUDU, but also on Amazon to rent.
