There’s something I don’t understand about Superman’s New 52 Costume. The same also goes for Cavill’s Superman suit

Superman’s costume in the New 52 is Kryptonian battle armor rather than spandex. Was it ever explained why a relic from Krypton had primary colors?

You’re probably saying “What do you mean? Those are the colors of Superman’s costume—duh!” That’s not what I’m asking. I’m asking what is the in-canon/in-universe explanation for this advanced, alien combat suit having primary colors?

The same question can’t be applied to regular costume because it’s made of fabric: Fabric is a material that commonly comes in colors like red and blue.

And what about the suit from Man of Steel? I know it wasn’t battle armor, but what was the in-canon reason for having the colors it did?

Is there something I’m missing? Please, those of you who have read New 52 Superman, let me know. As for Cavill’s suit… I’m pretty sure that’s something that was never explained or I could be wrong. Ya’ll will have to fill me in.
