Kingdoms of Death (Chapter 10) Neuromancer reference?
I was listening to the audiobook and Chapter 10 came up with the first line:
“THE WORLD BENEATH US shone gray and white as a holograph plate tuned to a dead signal.”
And it rang a bell and got me excited and remembered the iconic first line of Neuromancer:
“The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel.”
This might be a coincidence or no since I have no knowledge if Ruocchio did intend to reference William Gibson. Is this also a usual phrase to describe something as drab as a gray (or maybe polluted) sky? Because I’ve known it always to be the iconic intro for Neuromancer…
