First impression of the Leaf.
I'll give as many details of how I shaved as possible to help people understand anywhere I may have "gone wrong". This was my first time ever using anything other than disposable 5-blade cartridges. I was honestly really scared to try. I don't have any shave oil or after shave, so the steps I took were as follows: I sat on the edge of the bathtub. For the first leg, I (using Leaf's shave soap it came with) wet with warm water and applied soap with the puck to the whole leg. I then lathered it up with my loofah. $65 for a fluffy brush was way out of budget. No thanks. If anyone knows decent shave brushes that don't cost as much as the razor, let me know. Anyway, I then used slow, short strokes (about 1/5 of my leg at a time), rinsing between each one. I noticed that, by the time I got about half way through, the soap was really dry. I nicked myself a tiny bit right on the shin and below the front of the knee, but I'm used to it. I nick that same spot every time with my cartridges too. For the next leg, I decided to only soap one section at a time. I also did slightly longer strokes this time. The soap getting dry wasn't an issue, but I did notice on both legs that the razor that it sort of would skip across the skin. Maybe this is just an issue with the Leaf brand shave soap? I've never used shave soap before so I'm not sure how it's supposed to behave. I nicked the same exact spot on this leg too, even with less dry soap. All of the hair follicles on my legs have always been bumps, so maybe I'm just cutting them off, LOL. Both legs turned out exactly the same. I'm honestly worried that I wasted the money, so we'll see. The goal was fewer ingrown hairs, so I guess we'll find out in a couple days. Maybe their soap is just mid? Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
