Searching for an MS DOS game from my childhood

Hi Everyone,
I recall an MS DOS game from my childhood where you were the captain of a ship and you could sail around meeting the natives and trading resources.

I've had a search and I don't think it's the widely known "1869" because:
1. I remember the shipmates calling a mutiny against me (because of course as a child I was terrible at leading a ship) and I don't think that's possible in 1869; and

  1. I recall most of the game was lived from the ship deck.

I remember repeatedly failing at the game as a kid but I was to retry now and see if I can beat it.

Any ideas? Will be appreciated.
