Supplier Diversity

Hey all -

I am relatively new to procurement and in my time, have become involved with supplier diversity initiatives.

I wondered if you all could provide input on the following questions? Also open to any advice as well (that I did not explicitly ask about).

1) When tracking diverse spend, do you allow suppliers to self-certify? Do you use a certification body? If so, which body?

2) Do you track diverse status of a supplier during onboarding?

3) How do you "maintain" data on diversity? Do you perform a yearly-check on suppliers? Does your certification body provide any assistance? Do you narrow the scope of your maintenance (e.g. top 20% of your suppliers by spend is who you reach out to to check on status?

4) Does diversity play a role in your procurement process?

Note: I totally understand that many orgs are moving away from this approach; would still like some education on above if possible. Thanks in advance!
