Bonding Question
Finally had our electrical inspection today due to a permitting mess up that we had to correct.
Overall, it passed but the inspector noted two things that he’d like to see us to do prior to having the concrete poured and wanted to see if these sound correct (we have the approved sticker regardless, but still want it done right).
Bonding: we have a bonding wire laid out around the pool and tied in with the panel per usual. To be tied in with concrete. The inspector noted that there should be a ground rod at either end of the pool tied to that bonding wire. Is this typical? Our electrician who does the electrical for the pool company we used said he hasn’t heard of that before. Just curious. I have no issue installing if that’s typical.
Second, we have a 260k Jandy JXi heater. It’s obviously bonded, does the bond pass through to the gas line as well? He couldn’t get continuity from the bonding wire to the galvanized gas line, but from the bonding wire to pool panel (where it terminates), it’s fine. To another grounding source on different circuit (nearby outlet), there was also continuity. He said just to toss a clamp on the gas line and go to the pump so it’s properly bonded, but I’m wondering if there was user error.
It was approved regardless. The actual electrical on the wall behind the pumps he was extremely happy with, happy with the work quality- and that we went without automation.
Any opinions or prior experiences/knowledge greatly appreciated.
as an FYI, the gas line is not in place in the photo, it’s down low by the bottom edge of the siding behind the equipment - just don’t have a more recent pic since install.
