PC damage after storm?

Hi, computer is not turning on after lightning storm. It was powered off but was still connected to the wall and now wont power on. Other things like the monitor work with the same wall outlet. Don’t have a spare pc to cross test parts. Have a Corsair sf600w, and Asus z370i mitx. With it all plugged in, I can hear the normal sparking/Electrical sound when I unplug and plug back in the pc power cable from the back. Same with the PSU power cable, it makes that sparking sound when it’s powered on and you pull/plug in the power cable. Does this mean it’s alive? What can I do to test/check?

Question is what is damaged and needs replacing? PSU, mobo, or everything?

Can I buy a m.2 nvme ssd reader (seems like the cheapest option atm) and plug it into a windows laptop to check to see if my files are still there? does it then behave like a flash drive where I can view my windows system and files? Or would I have format it and lose everything?

Thanks!
