Confused about the trajectory of the story

I have read the story in a week and caught up to the recent chapters. I like the character development everyone got in season 1 & the beginning of season 2. :)

However, after the big time skip of 8 years, I am very confused on where this is all leading as the main couple was basically strong pre-time skip. Is the author going to focus on the adult relationship between all characters?
