Anyone else in the situation where they are not going to have enough for their retirement?

I was out of work for a long time because of sickness and have now been only able to find a part time job. As a consequence I am 47 and only have $20,000.00. My partner is 55 and only has $30,000.00. I’m really worried that we might end up homeless. Is anyone else in the same situation?
