Husband refuses to use air freshener

My husband (married 1 year, together 3) has an overactive pooper and on his days off, he goes #2 at least 5 times a day in our master bathroom that’s right off our bedroom. I have 4 essential oil air fresheners on the back of the toilet and I have gone from hints ->polite requests -> begging for him to use them. Yesterday I walked in our room and it was like a wall of sh*t smell hit me again, I couldn’t shower or even put laundry away in our room it was so bad.

PS- I know it’s possible that he has some kind of bowel issue and I made him go to an MD, but for 8 months now he won’t go back to get the lab work done. Bowel issues aside he is definitely capable of using the air fresheners.

Edit: I can’t answer every reply, didn’t expect this to blow up 💩🚽thanks for the suggestions everyone, I appreciate new things to try. I’m an RN, I know he needs to find out what is going on, but I’m not going to go to his job sites and pull him out for his appointments. I have severe migraines, so I can’t go the artificial scent/chemical routes, but I really like the air filter recommendations!
