What is the deal with vision boards?

I tried vision board-ing seriously for the first time in 2023. To my surprise, a lot of the things on my vb came into fruition & it felt great seeing the pictures that I took next to the pictures on my vb.

So naturally, I tried it again this year (2024) but almost nothing came true. Why is that?

I don’t think I did anything differently and I would look at it from time to time but how come almost none of it happened unlike the previous year? For some of them, it was the opposite that happened which is not good at all.

So how exactly do vision boards work?

For context, I made both of them digitally and saved them in their own album on my phone which I would look at every now and then.
