DIY wedding party?
Hi everyone, I’m getting married to my Japanese partner tomorrow! But we’re planning to hold a backyard wedding party in November next year. I know most people who do weddings do it through a wedding planner/venue or they just book a restaurant and throw a party but I’m really interested in trying to hold a small ceremony of 20-25 people to save money while still having the opportunity to have a wedding with all the vibes.
We’d have the ceremony in the garden, then the reception in the house. Some would stay the night while others would stay in their own arranged accommodation (family from abroad). It wouldn’t be anything terrible fancy but still a little bit fancy lol.
My idea was to rent a big nice villa with a spacious garden and just rent chairs and tables and make all the decorations myself but I don’t know…I’ve looked up diy weddings in Japan and haven’t come across much that’s similar.
I’m wondering if I’m in over my head and I should just forget about the villa/house thing and just find some nice garden space and get permission to rent that instead. The logistics of renting chairs and bringing diy decorations to the location could be troublesome. Obviously would need to set up the day before and maybe stay two nights three days.
Any house with a big space would probably be near the mountains/countryside. I’m really looking for forest vibes but considering might have to let go of some things. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?
I’m located in Kanagawa-ken if that helps.
