Just keeps dumping in NVT. Mid atlantic to join the party. Snowshoe/Timberline WV snowiest place in the country at times next week. Coastal storm has returned on the modeling for the 11th/12th.
Uplsope snow continues Tuesday thru Friday in NVT. Another 2-4' possible on top of 2-3' that already fell. That is 4-7' in half a month with no thaw for some NVT resorts.
NORTHEAST Snow has been somewhat disappointing in the whites. Northern greens got their fare share, the dacks and longfellows got some respectable totals but NH resorts are hovering around 4-5" so far. The uplsope continues on and off next week (see slide #1 for the upslope snow area) Gloomycast snowfall forecasts for the first 15 days of january stand (except in NVT where we have some serious over achievers). The coastal resorts (catskills, whites, longfellows) look like they will get their coastal storm around the 11th or 12th. See slide #2 and #3 for the GFS and EURO renditions of the storm. This thing dumps 6-12" on the whites, longfellows and catskills. So my thought is, the northeast gets enough snow to recover the base from the december thaw this past week and next. Then the folks who don't get their pow day from uplsope snow get a pow day from this coastal storm next weekend.
MID ATLANTIC West Virgina and Western PA are going to get absolutely annihilated in the first half of january. Another foot for seven springs on top of the foot that already fell. Timberline and Snoweshoe get another 15-20" on top of the 1-1.5' that already fell. That is 2-4' in the first 10 days of 13 days of january. It's gonna nuke until next weekend (and beyond) for those resorts. Looks like the catskills get a dusting here or there but don't get "nuked" on until next weekend. The snow that originally looked like it would fall in NC is still possible. But storm tracks have shifted farther north and it's going to be iffy. North Carolina, do your best now dance.
Go get those first tracks ice coasters!
