Question about buds3 pro controls.

I had to buy the new ones, because the 2 pro's kicked the bucket. Is there any way to turn on double tap side of earbud for volume like for the buds2 pro? It was so much better than stroking this fiddly plastic stick. I honestly have no idea if im using the controls right, it feels like a direct downgrade. How do I grip the dongle in the correct way?
