What is your rarest pen find?

Mine are these:

Lamy Safari Petrol (2017 Limited Edition). The pen is even rarer, at least as I see it, because I acquired it in 2021. It started with me trying to find a good teal coloured ink. I saw the Petrol, and immediately fell in love. But then, four years after it was released, the annual ‘special colour’ version was out of stock most everywhere. I mean, extremely sold out. After weeks of searching, I found one in Italy. Agreed it cost me three times as much as a regular Safari, and more than twice of what a special edition Safari costs, but it was a price I was happy to pay for this beauty. Comes with a black nib. I did also locate a Dark Lilac in Indonesia, but that one would have cost me five times as much as a regular Safari. So, didn’t go for it.

I would rank the Lamy Safari Petrol my rarest, but then the wise men of Babylon over at Lamy rereleased the Petrol colour on Al-Star in 2023. Way to devalue my star pen, thank you a**hats. So my next, and thus closer, contender is the Edison Nouveau Premier (Goulet Pens exclusive 2019 Fall Limited Edition) Smoky Amber. Also comes with a black nib. The beauty of this pen is beyond words. The picture that I took on my humble phone, does not do justice to the colours and chatoyance. What makes this rare, in my opinion is that not only was the Smoky Amber a Limited edition that ran for a limited time and has since sold out, but also GP eventually discontinued the Seasonal Editions of the Nouveau line altogether.

What are your rarest pen (or pen related) finds? Doesn’t need to be the most expensive, but has to be rare. Do also tell me why you consider it to be rare.

Happy writing.
