The 2001 television shift 📺 📺
The 2001 TV shift was undoubtedly there to some extent, albeit not as strong as the 2003 TV shift. Here are some of the changes that took place in the television industry.
- WCW Nitro airs it's last broadcast on TNT as World Wrestling Federation Entertainment buys the company.
- Speaking of TNT...they rebrand their network with a new logo (TNT) "We know drama"
- Toonami starts airing on Kids WB! Meaning there are now two Toonami blocks on TV running at the same time on weekdays.
- 3rd Rock from the sun ends it's run on NBC.
- Disney buys Saban.
- Fox Family becomes Abc Family because of the sale.
- Pokemania starts crashing and the 3rd movie bombs. Sales of Crystal TANK.
- Yu-Gi-Oh! starts airing on Kids WB! as Pokemon's replacement and is a hit.
- Baywatch finally ends it's run.
- In the world of basketball Michael Jordan returns to the NBA and plays weekly games.
- The Bernie Mac show debuts on FOX and is a hit.
- Scrubs debuts on NBC and becomes a hit.
- Another hit?? Yes and it's name is 24 on FOX.
- Smallville debuts on The WB network and becomes the second highest show outside of Dawson's Creek.
- Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy as well as Samurai Jack Jack debut on Cartoon Network.
- Star Trek voyager ends it's run on UPN.
- MTV2 becomes a broadcast network in the United States (same feed as Cable version)
- Lizzie McGuire debuts on Disney channel.
- Fear Factor debuts in the summer of 2001 and becomes a huge gross out hit.
- Buffy switches networks as it goes from The WB to UPN.
- Six feet under debuts on HBO and becomes a decent of enough hit.
- Adult Swim launches on Cartoon Network.
