Compsci jobs with an IT degree?
Hi, I'm in a situation right now where either I have to settle for an IT degree or transfer to my old university to complete a software engineering degree, or they now also have a new CS program but idk how good or bad it is and if I will find classes. I've heard from many people you can still get compsci jobs with an IT degree, you just need to be involved in a lot of projects and do an internship. How true is this?
I don't particularly like IT, I took some classes and just didn't enjoy the material, I much prefer coding but I'm not able to continue in the CS major at my current university due to a few circumstances and I don't know if I'd be approved to switch to comp engineering which is mostly what I want.
If I do decide to go the IT route, how difficult would it be to get CS jobs given that I'm involved in projects/internships/possibly certifications? Does it really matter CS vs IT degree when it comes to pay in the same CS role? Would I be better off just biting the bullet and going back to my old university for software engineering? (This is more an advising question anyways but just wanna clarify I'm not considering how many credits I have left or anything like that I just want my degree to be worth it)
