What could have happened?

We have been away for 6 weeks. Left our 2 cats in our neighbors care. Came back to empty water bowls. Our tuxedo had no collar on and this section of fur missing on his chest. What concerned me most was the blueish hue around the edge of the wound. Can't see any puncture points which make me think something rubbed against it.
