Is my San Pedro rotting? I’m thinking yes

Luckily there are several salvageable pieces. This was my first cactus (short of a few succulents that I would always end up overwatering) this thing has grown to about 5’ tall, so it makes me sad to think I need to cut it, but im worried that whatever this is will spread.
