Walt is an awful communicator

On my 4th rewatch, I almost seem to have some new perspectives on every rewatch, which i enjoy. One thing that has stood out though throughout the rewatches is — Walt is an absolutely awful communicator in a relationship.

• in the 2nd season, (i think) Skyler notices Walt’s disappearances and she starts doing the same. What does Walt do? Instead of talking to Skyler about why she’s behaving the way she is, Walt decides to make breakfast in the hopes that Skyler turns around.

• in the final season, post “Operation Gus”, Skyler is terrified about Walter as this is the first time she comes to grip with the fact that he’s not only a cook but also a killer. What does Walt do? He comes home, thinks of him as untouchable, decides to “forgive” Skyler when she has other thoughts.

• in continuation, he has these little chats, purchases luxury cars for him & Jr, tells Skyler that he leased them and it fits the narrative while Skyler has all these thoughts about her husband and worried about her children. On his birthday, Sky absolutely doesn’t care about decorating the bacon, Walt acts like he absolutely does not know Skyler’s disinterest in any of these, talks about the car’s prowess etc.

Finally what it took him to ask is Skyler trying to drown herself. Even then, all it ever took was for Walt to ask if she can explain the situation of sending the kids away. The point is, when you’re with your partner for a while, you’d know every bit of their mannerisms to make up if anything’s wrong. Walt, the apparent genius on the other hand has absolutely no idea, or, it is the classic case of him not wanting to ask what’s bothering as he’s involved in illicit activities and does not want Skyler probing. Anyway, this is more of a rant cos when your partner starts having these thoughts, starts drifting away, their thoughts and imaginations can be limitless, which is quite dangerous. Not comforting your partner or even making an attempt to reassure them means the relationship, not matter how much money you pour in or the empire you’re trying to build will not matter - at least it did not here.
