Actor-Director reunions (Hard Truths)

Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Mike Leigh worked together on Secrets & Lies, released in 1996, and Jean-Baptiste was nominated for an Academy Award. She didn't act in another one of his movies until 2024, and she has a pretty decent chance of getting nominated again, let's say she's in the top 7-8 possibilities. Pretty interesting.

She wasn't nominated in the intervening time, so in some sense her career pinnacles might fairly be described as these two Mike Leigh movies released 28 years apart with no acting collaborations in between. (She contributed to the soundtrack of Career Girls.)

Who else did anything like this? Director has a key collaboration with an actor and then a long time passes before making another movie together. The Coppola-Pacino relationship is a little similar but there are three movies. Let's say that counts, the gap is 16 years in that instance.

Who else?
