Conflicting Information on Conditional Release: TPU vs. IRR for Air National Guard Transfer

Greetings everyone,

I'm currently approaching my ETS date on June 14th. I've completed my exit counseling with my career counselor and company commander, and I've returned my OCIE. I am also in the process of seeking approval for a conditional release to transfer to the Air National Guard.

When I asked my S1 about starting the process, they advised me to initiate it as a TPU soldier, stating that it would be more difficult to get the conditional release signed while in the IRR. However, many people on this subreddit have mentioned that it's actually much easier and faster to get the conditional release approved while in the IRR.

I'm now quite confused and unsure about the best course of action. Can anyone with experience in this matter provide some clarity? Thank you very much!
