How true is the statement Urdu is a Muslim language, Hindi is a Hindu language?

Not trying to stir up hate. I watched a video by IndiaByPixels which discussed the Urdu/Hindi split. Apparently it also contributed to Partition. So am wondering if the divide is purely religion based and each language notifies your religion, just like there is a Hebrew vs Arabic split in the Middle East.
