Dragon Man Mode?
Hey, new here and was hoping I could get some opinions on a snowflake I'm theorycrafting at the moment.
My general idea is to build an OSRS account that reveres dragons and only uses gear that has "dragon" in the name or somehow relates to dragons. Orikalkum ("Dragon") equipment used to be bis, looks cool af, and limiting myself in this way could present a lot of interesting challenges. One additional restriction I had was to only allow magic if it requires Fire Runes because dragons, of course, breathe fire. (This would also require that I get 99 Firemaking before I could use Magic)
Melee: This category is the most obvious. Most end game gear is of Dragon-tier, with a few notable upgrades/goal items like Dragon Full Helm, Dragon Platebody, Dragonfire Shield, Claws, DWH, and possibly Ferocious Gloves and DH Lance. Amulet slot would likely be Glory or Dragonbone Necklace. Ring slot would be Ring of Wealth and Brimstone Ring. I might allow Boots of Brimstone and Devout Boots since they come from Drakes. Fire Cape and Infernal are allowed because dragons breath fire.
Special notes: Gear progression is allowed if it relates back to a dragon. For example, I could wear Steel armor because there are Steel Dragons.
Range: This one is also fairly straightforward. God d'hide armor is the goal and I would have to Range naked until I can obtain some regular d'hide. Mainhand progression would start with Bronze Crossbow up to Dragon, then DHCB as bis. Offhand would be Dragon Sq for tanking, d'hide and god d'hide shields for range bonus, with Dragonfire Ward being the stretch item. The new Sunfire Fanatic Armour would be allowed, assuming it passes and potentially the Eclipse set with its Burn Effect.
Magic: Okay, here is where it gets interesting. Magic doesn't really have a whole lot of Dragon options, as far as I can tell. There are no Dragon robes (Dagon'hai doesn't count, that's a cult of Zamorak). Maybe I could justify Xerician since the lizardmen make it, but seems kind of cheaty.
I would however allow anything fire themed, so Mystic Fire Staff, Tome of Fire, possibly Smoke Staff, Lava Staff for sure since there are Lava Dragons, Salamanders that breathe fire, and maybe the Zamorak Staff for Flames of Zamorak.
For Spells specifically, I can only use them if they require at least one Fire Rune to cast. This means Amulet of Glory has to come from Dragon Implings because I can only cast Lvl-3 and Lvl-6 Enchant. Also means I can only make Ruby and Onyx enchanted bolts. From the Ancient Spellbook I can cast Smoke Spells. Maybe this is further justification of allowing the Smoke Battlestaff? I also get a lot of utility out of the Lunar book with Superglass Make, Humidify, Tan Leather, and Bake Pie. Arceuus has some good ones too like Thralls, Demonbane Spells, Shadow Veil, and Undead Grasp.
Questions:
- Would you allow Fury since it is created using Fire Magic and gives me a reason to train Crafting beyond 84?
- Should I allow weapons and armour dropped by Revenant Dragons?
- Should Shayzien Armour be allowed when killing Lizardmen, as it is made from Lovakite Ore in Lovakengj?
- If Smoke Spells and Smoke Battlestaff are allowed, should Ancient Sceptre also be allowed once I get the Smoke Quartz?
- Should Ibans Blast be allowed since it uses Fire Runes? If so, what about Trident or Nightmare Staff?
- BIGGEST QUESTION, what would do you about Dragon-adjacent monsters? For instance, Zulrah was a failed Dragonkin experiment and shoots fire. It also has the Magma Mutagen and the Leagues IV fire blowpipe kit. I mean, clearly I need the Fire Rejuv Pool and Volcanic Theme in my house. But back on topic, allowing reptiles, which are non-draconic but relatives of dragons, I could potentially use stuff like Salad Robes...
