Red & Yellow, is there a there, there?

Tonight was the night, I finished my first read through of TSH. What an amazing read. I've been browsing some posts and synopsis of the novel online and can find nothing relating to the, more than occasional, references to "red and yellow."

I may be reading too much into this, but I don't believe so.

Are these references simply relating to the traditional meanings of the colours? Red for power, passion, violence, etc. Yellow for wisdom, intellect, etc.

Or, is there something more to this? Did I miss something in my first pass?

Edit: Is this common occurrence some type of reference to the Decadent Movement?
