Backfloat tips and games
Hey!
It's summer and we have many new and returning swimmers. I'd like to share and ask for y'alls tips and games. (I'm from Texas so the y'all works lol)
I like to start with the starfish float. Have the student get their shoulders low in the water and place their head back to look to the sky/ceiling.
Pancake song- I'm a little pancake on my back I'm a little pancake nice and flat I'm a little pancake on my back Flip me over- just like that!
Sleeping game Have the swimmer "sleep" snoring is fun! Count 1 a clock, 2 a clock.. "wake up!"
Mattress game Place one kick board at a time and see how long they can stay flat until they fall off
Cup on head game Place a cup with a bit of water and see how long they can keep it balanced on their head while floating on their back
Sometimes the kids are teething/ear tubes/hate it: I give them ear plugs, a swim cap or plainly hold their ears above water.
Pushing off the wall onto their back can be fun too. Letting the kiddos lay on their back in zero depth water is also be a positive.
Trust is a must.
Hope this helps, and any comments or tips are welcome!
