They laid you to rest today and I wasn't able to attend because of work. I sat at my desk and my head was full of echoes. Sometimes everything just sucks. I try to imagine that you would be amused, after all those times at the bookstore, that an inflexible work schedule got in the way one last time. I'll laugh about that if you do. It takes some of the sting away.

I'm so sorry. I'm sorry you were in so much pain. I'm sorry it happened like this. I'm sorry that you were alone. I'm sorry my friend. You didn't deserve this. You deserved so much more. I hope you know that.
