Simultaneous Deck & PC play should be a thing. Where to give Valve feedback about Steamdeck?
I can't seem to find a good place to give Valve feedback about the Steamdeck, where can I do this? I was going to just write support, but that seems wrong. A steam forum and reddit don't seem to make a lot of sense either.
I got the Steam Deck last week and its amazing. My one issue is that unless I have it in airplane mode, it will boot me out of games on my PC. I kinda understand why, steam is DRM after-all, but I mean come on... Game sharing exists, why can't I play Baldurs gate for 15min while I wait for all the boys to join the Helldivers lobby on PC?
(I knew I shoulda bought it on GOG, but it was only on sale on steam when I got it 2 months ago🤷).
The main reason I love the deck so much is that I can start actually playing all those unplayed games I "own". Thanks to the sleep function and portability I can use those train rides and those moments where you can't really start anything between adult life obligations to play my backlog.
NOTES:
- Yes offline mode is a thing, achieves results to the same extent as airplane mode. Both have the same downside too
- Yes you can create a new steam account for your deck, then share with that account. That comes with it's own issues though.
- I'm specifically talking about DIFFERENT games, in my case one is singleplayer, ofc I don't expect to be able to play two instances of the same game! I would also understand not allowing two multiplayer games to run at the same time.
- Family sharing can't run 2 instances of Baldurs gate with 1 copy. But you can run 1 Hogwarts legacy & 1 Baldurs gate the belong to the same user. I don't see why this shouldn't be allowed on the same account.
- A big issue I have with all these workarounds is save syncing. I would like to for example, continue Baldurs gate on my PC. If I use the offline workaround I have to remember to: 1. Close steam on PC. 2. Re-enable wifi / online mode on deck. 3. Wait for it to sync. 4. Turn steam back on on my PC. This isn't ideal and it's easy to forget. I also heavily use the sleep function with games open so I literally can't set offline mode if I forgot to before opening the game earlier. Also a separate account wouldn't share saves.
