What's the most "underwhelming" match of all-time?
Sometimes, a match everyone is really excited for just falls flat. For me, two recent examples immediately come to mind:
AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, WrestleMania 34. Their Wrestle Kingdom match is great and running it back at the biggest US wrestling show of the year felt like a no-brainer. I wasn't super tuned into NJPW at the time but even I had went out of my way to check out that match. When 'Mania came finally came around, the match didn't really deliver. It wasn't the worst thing ever, just nothing really that great. Plus, the post-match heel turn was lame.
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns, WrestleMania 38. No one really wanted to see this rivalry again (well, except maybe more casual fans) but the build up to it was kinda interesting. Atleast for me, I kinda got into it and was genuinely excited for the match. Roman's promos were on-point and this was kinda the start of the "Cowboy" Brock run where he was just being himself. When it happened, it was just a basic finisher spam type of match and was super disappointing to me. Additionally, it led to the unified titles which ended up being a mistake in hindsight. Fortunately, their Last Man Standing match at SummerSlam made up for it atleast; can't say I've ever seen a forklift lift up a wrestling ring lol.
