Don't give up. You can make a difference. Look local.

Lots of doom and gloom lately. Struggles to find the good. For those who aren't sure what to do, look local.

So many resources rely on volunteers. They don't require federal funding. They just need good people to care. People who can offer time and are willing to offer of themselves, even if that means they are a little extra tired.

If you have the ability to flex your time, do so. Tell your employers and managers why you are doing it. You will probably be surprised by the support you get if you just speak up/ask for some support.

This is very skewed towards salaried employees and work environments that support work life balance. If you have that, use it.

I struggle with the millennial cocktail of depression, anxiety, and neurodivergence. I get panic attacks in large gatherings. I wasn't there for the 2/5 protests, but I was volunteering for a 2 am shift at the homeless shelter to give people a safe, warm place to sleep.

Don't let fear paralyze you into inaction. We aren't all leaders of the revolution. Don't discount the importance of human kindness. Be a smiling, compassionate face. Care, and care, and care.

Even of your care only extends to your neighbor, you're making the world a better place.
