GameCube had a gimmick

I've seen countless threads on this subreddit debating whether or not Nintendo always has a new "gimmick" with each new console, and the GameCube keeps being brought up as an example of a console without a gimmick.

The GameCube had a gimmick, we all just forgot about it. You could plug your GBA into the controller slot!

My friend knows this was the intended gimmick because the salespeople were relentless about that feature when the GameCube was new, and how it would set Nintendo apart from its competitors.

Not all gimmicks work out!
