9 days after purchase, vaping Live Resin on 2.8V (left) vs 2.4V (right) - why it matters
Been experimenting with battery voltages on Live Resin. My main goals were to maximize the cloud output while also preserving as much of the oil as possible.
To do this, I experimented with these two Live Resin carts from the same brand with two different batteries.
The one on the left goes down to 2.8V at its lowest, while the one on the right goes to 2.4V at its lowest. Both were preheated for around 5-7 seconds before pulling at all times.
Let’s point out the obvious. The color on the left one is absolutely horrendous. It’s pitch black. It began becoming like this around the bottom 25% of the cart.
Does it affect the flavor? Yes and no. The terps are still surprisingly still there and noticeable. However, the smoothness of the pulls have been noticeably affected. It’s not as smooth and it noticeably triggers a cough.
On the other hand, my other cart has darkened , but far less and has no difference in pull or flavor. You can compare how they looked when I first opened them up in the second photo.
Another noticeable difference is the actual volume of juice after all this usage. I am very likely to be finished with my OMG cart within the next hour. I do believe I can stretch out my Durban Z cart for most of tomorrow.
To even the playing field, I would pull them both consecutively right after each other at all times. They have the exact same amount of use with no deviation. I can safely say that my Durban Z (2.4V) has been stretched out a considerable amount compared to my OMG cart (2.8V).
I do believe that it would pull much better on an even lower setting if I had the option. I plan on ordering one later since it is a worthwhile investment.
Tl:dr - Don’t believe the recommended settings by these companies, their goal is to get you to finish and buy more. MFNY for example, recommends 2.8-3.0V. That is likely going to get you the same results here towards the end. Vape much lower. 2.2-2.4 on a preheat.
