Opinion: Trading KAT was a horrible decision, and the Wolves window has closed
Let’s put Gobert on the back burner. In 2023, they signed Jaden McDaniels to a 5-year $136 million dollar contract. This year, he is playing downright awful as their dependable scoring wing. They have a declining veteran in Mike Conley who gave it his ALL last playoffs and is understandably underperforming due to age. As a result of the KAT trade, they inherited Donte DiVincenzo’s 4-year $47 million dollar contract, who has also been severely underwhelming and a straight up liability. And as the cherry on top, they got Julius Randle who is shooting 34% from 3, a significant step down from KAT’s big man shooting. When I watch the Wolves play, it just seems like Ant has to put this entire team on his back, and not in a pretty way like Steph does. They should have kept last year’s core together at all costs, what a stupid trade.
