Why am I getting matched with such high-skill players?

Very recently, I started playing MW3 (yesterday when it came out on Xbox Gamepass) and I've been matched with players that are: *Over level 850 *Slide-cancelling, sweaty maniacs *People with 8.5 K/Ds or more *Dropping Nukes *Using cruise-missiles or VTOL Strikes on my spawn I play quick play because I hate the competitiveness of ranked play in any game, but it feels like I'm getting matched with so much better players than me (I'm 0.65 K/D, almost always bottom-fragging with a very high death count). Why are my opponents so good, should I play Ranked or just stay in quick play?
