Jeep Wrangler Engine

Hi I am new to this group. I am thinking about buying my first Jeep Wrangler. I friend of mine told to not buy a Wrangler because the engines suck and has engine issues. I would be better off with a Jeep Cherokee or grand Cherokee. What are you pep’s thoughts or opinions?
