Back-to-back post-recall ICCU hardware failures on 2023 Ioniq 5 Limited
I recognize there are many ICCU threads in this subreddit, but wanted to post about our last experience to see if we are actually unique.
We had the ICCU recall software update as soon as it was announced, and then our ICCU failed completely a couple of months ago. The EV battery wouldn't charge and gave a warning that it was in "slow mode." Had to be towed to the dealer, kept for a few weeks, returned with a replacement ICCU.
Last week (a couple of months after the original ICCU replacement), we get a warning the 12V battery is failed, and then the car dies completely -- can't even use the power locks and there appears to be no way to lock anything other than the driver's door without electricity. Car is towed again to the dealer. The dealer says they found the ICCU "main fuse melted" and no ETA yet on a replacement part.
So nearly back-to-back ICCU failures, both post-recall.
We've had several other issues requiring extensive repair time. For example, the V2L AC outlet in the backseat failed shortly after purchase. It took nearly a year to get that replacement part.
Aside from the inconvenience of losing use of the car for so many extended periods, I am quite concerned about the possible cost of ownership post-warranty.
If anyone else has had back-to-back ICCU failures, I'd be interested to collect our experiences.
