What if the devs actually allow a faction to be completely eliminated from the map, only to show up later with survivors that rebuilt their armies?

I am new to the game, played around 30 hours, I see strategy is often discussed in this sub but what if the Dev actually allow bugs to be exterminated for a while, to then make them come back, like lore wise it would be so cool.

Can this already happen or not?
