ADC/ORE/NDEB/LDS ?
I’m currently in my fifth year of dental practice in my homeland, and the situation isn’t looking good. The government practice, where I work, is crumbling due to corruption. Limited funds mean limited opportunities. Furthermore, opportunities are given based on racial profiling and quotas. As a marginalized minority, my parents used up their savings to give me an education because, despite my great grades in school, I wasn’t given any national scholarships due to my minority status.
Many have suggested going into private practice, but it’s also problematic there. Private practices frequently fire employees to hire fresh graduates at lower salaries. Additionally, there’s a requirement to maintain a social media presence to be hireable, not to mention the racial preferences.
As days go by, with all the bullying at work and the lack of future prospects, I’m wondering if the climate or opportunities are better abroad. I’m treated like a third-class citizen in my homeland, despite being a third-generation resident here. Would it be any different abroad?
There are many options to consider, such as NBDE, ORE, LDS, or ADC. However, I don’t know enough about the current work environments in those countries to determine if it’s worth the risk of packing up and leaving.
I’d really appreciate it if any dentists from those countries could share insights about their current work climate. It’s always better to learn from a local than from the internet.
