Strictly indoor cat screams and scratches at apartment door for hours a day.

My 8-month old kitten (who I've had for 4+ months) spends the majority of his waking hours screaming at my apartment door. I've never let him out willingly, but he's snuck past me on my way in/out a couple times. If he's not sleeping, eating, locked in the bedroom, or being directly played with, he's at the door screaming.

Sometimes playing with a wand toy or putting out one of his (several) electronic toys will temporarily distract him. Otherwise, he prefers his favorite pasttime: screaming.

I've tried ignoring him, but the screaming continues unabated for truly hours.

Everything else I've seen online is about mitigating how much time I let him spend out of the apartment. For several reasons, that is not an option.

Truly desperate for advice. I've gotten complaints from neighbors and "wait it out" is no longer an option.
