Cod liver
I tried these for breakfast today and boy are they a delicacy! I had originally planned to try these with crackers but I fried up some potatoes and onion as I wanted a substantial breakfast. Could have used the crunch of crackers but it was fine.
Texturally they are very soft, almost gelatinous. Some raw onion would probably be good.
The flavor is not super strong, I don't think. A little bit fishy, a tiny bit minerally, and a touch salty. I tried a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, Tabasco sauce, white wine vinegar, and Dijon mustard. The mustard was my favorite complement.
I would absolutely eat these again, probably with crackers or toasty bread with raw onion, maybe capers.
Anyone else have a good recommendation on how to eat these?
