Another snail question- hole in shell

I bought this snail today- picked it because of his cool spikes (his name is Spike obviously). I didn’t notice till I got home that he has a hole in his shell. I’ve seen other people glue a piece of egg shell to it.. it just fill it with glue?? Advice?
